Construction is underway between locks 5 and 22 with the ultimate goal of rewatering that portion of the C&O Canal. Monday, January 29 will see a temporary detour at Lock 20 and the next week will see a detour above Swains Lock. (more). Background information on the project can be found in this older press release.
