Brandt announces retirement plans

Tuesday, June 18, 2019

Kevin Brandt, superintendent of the C&O Canal National Historical Park, announced his intention to retire at the end of the current fiscal year, which ends September 30. In an email Kevin said, "I arrived at this decision after dedicating more than 40 years to preserving, protecting and sharing the resources and mission of the National Park Service."

Kevin began his tenure superintendent of C&O Canal NHP in 2004. He had served as the park's assistant superintendent since March 1996.

Kevin explained in his email, "My retirement will allow me more time with my family but I am not leaving the NPS family entirely. This fall I will start a new position as project manager for the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation."

Many of us in the C&O Canal Association have had the opportunity to work with Kevin over the years. We will miss him and wish him well in the next phase of his life.
